When Guy Cisternino is on he's on and tough to beat. On another note, he can also be tough to handle.

Here, Guy Cisternino visits the new destination Gym and trains shoulders after his very hard earned comeback victory at the Niagra Falls Pro Show. This is part 2 of 3 workouts in 2 days and in depth catch up with GASP CEO Michael Johansson.

Branch Warren sits down with GASP CEO Michael Johansson and details out some of the actions he took early on that he attributes to him continually improving.

When you step out of your comfort zone and train with guys not 1 level above you, but 4-5 levels above you, it's like hanging on for dear life and just trying to finish and no matter what, don't quit."

Branch Warren is training back here at Metroflex Arlington which ironically is still way out of most people's comfort zone.

No one will remember the guy that gave up. Period!

"It's not how hard you can hit, its how hard you can get hit it and keep on coming."

 This goes without saying, it's a lot easier said than done.

The 2019 season was anything but easy for Guy Cisternino's competitive comeback. Guy only mentions his shoulder surgeries here with GASP CEO Michael Johansson. What we also have to take into account was the rough couple of years leading up to the surgeries.

To recap: Guy had a relentless amateur career and turned pro in 2008 and accumulated 6 IFBB Pro wins between 2011 and 2015 securing his top tier ranking in the world of professional bodybuilding. Amidst all of this success Guy's hard working personality would be a double edged sword digging into his own recovery process. Hectic travel and appearance schedules and suffering from (at the time) inexplicable sub-dermal burning, his health and hence his competition placing suffered in 2017 to 2018. Finally we get to his double shoulder surgery in 2018 and flash forward to his competitive comeback in 2019 and we get an idea of what he's ACTUALLY coming back from.

Now time to get his shit kicked in during his comeback trail. Guy's comeback was already impossible. Throw in a slew of contests that should be a cakewalk for the "hood on world off," 6 pro wins, ball busting Guy we have come to expect and he gets his ass handed to him not once, not twice, not even 3 times but 4 straight contests. Self doubt started to creep in on EVEN Guy Cisternino.

"I had to remind myself what I said before."

 Guy also had to remind himself that he's not done.

Branch Warren links up with IFBB Pro bodybuilder Brett Wilkin here at Armbrust Pro Gym in Denver, Colorado. Admittedly Brett was expecting to have a slight advantage being a resident of Denver and well acclimated to the elevation. However, 25 years of grit, heat and relentless lifting out in Metroflex Arlington transferred pretty well to the mile high back workout they underwent.

"When you train this hard you can't help but get in shape. You cant help but get bigger and stronger. My intention was to never get this big and heavy again but it just happened training with Johnnie again."

Branch Warren and Johnnie Jackson back at 100% intensity going into the 2020 Arnold Classic. "You don't see that real hard dense grainy look anymore. Your training affects the way you look. Look at the best physiques of all time, they were all hard trainers and they all trained heavy."

This can definitely be an oversimplification and open to interpretation BUT a muscle under maximal tension has no choice but to respond to this stimulus. You can achieve max tension in many ways. For Branch Warren and Johnnie Jackson joined by Butch Steinle here on this shoulder day and for the past 25 years, maximal tension and overload has been achieved in an explosive and ultra high repetition method WITH heavy weights.

Rear delt flys: 4 sets x 15 reps (pyramided up in weight each set)

Seated military press: 3 sets - 135 x 15, 225 x 10-15, 225 x 10-15

Dumbbell laterals: 3 sets - 45 x 15, Dropset 65x15, 45x15, 25x15, back off set 45 x 20

Superset cable upright rows and plate front raise: 3x15 each exercises.
